UK Space Agency — National GSTP (ESA) Funding

What it is

Grant funding via the UK Space Agency's national contribution to ESA's General Support Technology Programme (GSTP), maturing UK space technologies toward flight readiness. The March 2026 package totalled £14.7m — a £7m co-funded national call for UK businesses (closed 11 May 2026) plus £7.7m of fully-funded ESA technology contracts open to organisations of all sizes; no next national round has been announced yet, and applications run through ESA's esa-star procurement platform when a route is open.

Other GSTP routes remain route-specific: ESA Initiated Activities are bid through ESA Star when supported ITTs are released, while Element 1 continuations and Elements 2/3 require contact with the UK GSTP team before invitation. No single GBP per-business award ceiling applies across all routes, so capture is deliberately no-headline-£ (fixed 0); split GSTP into route-specific rows before publishing a headline value. The guidance lists indicative support caps in EUR by route, including €200k De-risk Phase 1, €500k Building Block, €1m Element 2 Make and €1.5m Element 3 Fly, all subject to co-funding or invitation conditions.
