What it is

Repayable finance, not a grant — flexible loans, mezzanine finance and equity investments of £25,000 to £10 million, on terms up to 15 years, from the Development Bank of Wales' £500m Wales Flexible Investment Fund. For businesses based in Wales (or willing to relocate to Wales) investing, expanding or entering new markets; applications are open on a rolling basis.

Verified 2026-08-21 on developmentbank.wales: funds-we-manage page states WFIF is a £500m fund investing £25,000–£10m as loans, mezzanine finance and equity with 15-year term flexibility, financed by Welsh Government; business-loans page confirms eligibility for 'companies based in Wales, or those willing to relocate' and an open apply-online/eligibility-checker route. Welsh Government £270m recapitalisation and the fund's extension/capital-recycling confirmed via gov.wales written statement of 27 Mar 2026. The nation=wales rule slightly over-restricts: businesses relocating TO Wales are also eligible per the funder. Distinct from DBW micro loans (£1k–£100k) and the Wales Tourism Investment Fund. This is debt/equity — every pound is repayable or dilutive.
