What it is

Capital grants of up to £20,000, paid at generous intensity rates, for Scottish farmers and crofters to invest in equipment and infrastructure that improves soil, hedgerows, livestock management and environmental performance. Round 1 (2025, £14m) is closed; Round 2 (£14.25m, at least 725 businesses) was announced on 3 Aug 2026 and opens winter 2026 — application dates not yet published.

Verified 2026-08-21 on ruralpayments.org (FFIS page: 2025 round opened 14 Jul 2025, closed 22 Aug 2025, £14m, up to 100% of eligible investment costs, grant ceiling tiered by eligible agricultural land declared on the Single Application Form; applicants must be eligible active farmers/crofters registered with SGRPID) and gov.scot press release dated 03 Aug 2026 (Round 2: £14.25m, at least 725 businesses, opens WINTER 2026, max £20,000; standard rate 50% of eligible costs, new entrants up to 80%, Highlands & Islands up to 60%, environmental/nature-benefit items up to 100%; eligible item list to be published before opening). NOT a rolling scheme — rolling:true is a schema artefact because Round 2's application dates are unpublished; set a real deadline when the round opens. Engine cannot express SGRPID registration, farm-size tiering or the enhanced-rate demographics (recorded here instead).
