Worth

up to £50,000

Deadline

Rolling — no fixed deadline

What it is

Non-recoupable grants of £5,000–£50,000 toward the marketing, promotional and technical costs of releasing a UK-made video game in international territories — money you keep, capped at 25% of total release costs. Applications are made by the UK-based lead development studio; the current round closed and the next opens in autumn 2026.

⚠️ ingest normalisation 2026-08-21: games-only fund — heavy confirmed-games preferred rule added (wizard has no games question yet, so unconfirmed tech/creative businesses honestly score ~58%, never 100%). Verified 2026-08-21 on bfi.org.uk (fund page + application guidelines): 'Applications are now closed. The next round is scheduled to open in autumn 2026' — hence between_rounds with rolling:true/deadline:null per seed convention. Guidelines state grants of £5,000–£50,000, non-recoupable, not exceeding 25% of total release costs; apply at least 8 weeks before the funded activity starts. Funder-stated restrictions the engine cannot express: applicant must be a UK-registered limited company whose core business is producing video games, sole/lead developer of the game, not an SPV, with no more than 25% of shares held by non-UK corporate entities, platform holders/digital distributors, or companies over £54m turnover; the game must have a development budget of £10m or less, be a new full-length premium narrative title releasing on PC or console, qualify as British under the cultural test, and release within 3 months before to 12 months after the application date. One application per game.
